Some couple of weeks ago, I’d be the first person to rebuke such statements against your person- not only because I love to defend you even when I believe you’re at fault, but for what I believed you to be. I still hold you in high-esteem and believe in your goodness; the modest honesty and blunt aggression against corruption. We need these qualities in a leader, but that’s not enough! We need more than that, Nigeria needs more than that!

We read and heard how your crusade against illegalities destroyed the devil of your generation; that’s so beautiful an encomium in your favour. We are thankful for that, our Fathers dance in your celebration. That’s the Buhari we know and would always be proud to remember. Thanks to youthful age. Did I also read about your expertise in managing the most revered source of generating the nation’s revenue? Yes, Mr. President, I did.

You’ve served this nation in various capacities and not a single successful petition against you was recorded throughout your years of service as an Administrator ( your Six-Seven years as a Democratic President excluded). Because of your previous records of exemplary heroism in service, I’ve chosen to accord you the benefit of doubt. I’ll not therefore blame you for what’s happening with our beloved; the coolness of our eyes, ours, the blessed Nigeria. Your age is to blame.

Recently Mr. President, your actions and inactions are a testimony of either your inability to perform your obligatory assignments due to the inconveniences introduced by old age or your sheer rascality, self-centredness and psychosis. I’m not a judge, hence for today at least, you should be the judge in your own case.

On the 28th of November of this year, 2020, not less than Forty-eight farmers were slaughtered in Zabarmari, a village in Borno State. All you did was to express shock over the incidence, and thereafter shun a scheduled meeting with the National Assembly on the issue. On the 11th of this month, coincidently the same day you went on a personal visit to your home in Daura, Katsina state, no fewer than 400 students were abducted from a Government owned boarding school at Kankara village of the same Katsina State, your home State. Annoyingly, though expected, you sent a delegation to represent you despite being available for the visit. Bandits and Insurgents are now sharing in your authority; they issue orders just like the legitimate President you’re. Thanks to your Media team, they all jump to the defensive whenever we register our grievances.

Many of these atrocities were recorded during the six years of your administration. We were not blinded by love but surely by hope that you would regain your vision, and maybe then, things would change; but they keep getting worse. Forget about the inflation rate which I would personally choose to ignore because I believe we’re both partially responsible; the rate at which the decay of our educational system is rising can only be considered a nightmare. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has embarked on an indefinite Industrial action since March of this year; It’s no surprise to us the gullible populace, since most of those who are accorded the mantle of leadership send their wards abroad.

I have a lot in your celebration Mr. President, but I can’t say the same of your team. Amongst them are Goldstones, but many are gold-diggers. They amass wealth by hook or crook; they enslave the masses and still expect kisses from them. Without a team, you can’t do it alone. I don’t think you’ve any viable options than to honorably resign.

Happy birthday, Sire! May you be blessed, forgiven and guided.
