Recently, to be precise on Friday 7th October, 2023 in Maiyama Local Government Area, Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu flagged off the distribution of palliatives to the people of Kebbi State particularly the vulnerable families.

The distribution of the palliatives was meant to reduce the untold hardship faced by the people, according to both the Federal and State Governments was occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy which had caused the prices of foodstuffs and services to skyrocket beyond the reach of the common man .

The success story of Kebbi’s distribution of palliatives successfully done under the able leadership of Kauran Gwandu’s administration was not only unique but unparalleled in Nigeria.

Because of this, It is also glaringly evident that all the good people, law abiding and pro – development citizens of the state have applauded the state government for its diligent distribution of the invaluable palliatives.

If you can recall when the distribution of the palliatives was flagged off in Maiyama Local Government by His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, the Governor explained that the Federal Government gave only N2 billion naira to the states.

However, in his usual magnanimity , the Governor graciously and swiftly topped up the money with an additional N3.7 billion to make it N5.7 billion so that the palliatives could reach wide range of Kebbi populace particularly the vulnerables in the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

This noble objective of the Governor was also undoubtedly achieved as the palliatives that were tangibly of a very good quality evenly reached all the nooks and crannies of the state.

Although, 720,000 families were being targetted as beneficiaries, the Governor ensured that all the categories of workers , organisations and security agencies, including federal staff benefitted from the palliatives to give everyone a sense of belonging in Kebbi State and to reduce the hardship of average people of the state.

In order to ensure the transparent, just and equitable distribution of the palliatives, he announced to the public that 210 trucks worth N5.7 billion, truck loads of grains, rice and millet would be distributed with each LGA getting 10 trucks of the grains .

The indefatigable Governor also set up a Committee in all the 21 Local Government Areas comprising the State Executive Council members, party Chairmen, women, youth leaders and security agencies, among others, to make sure that the food items reached the genuinely targetted beneficiaries across the state.

Interestingly,as directed by His Excellency, the Governor, the distribution excercise had since commenced as the media will bear witness in all the 225 wards of the state.

Civil servants, through their Ministries, Government Agencies, Parastatals and organisations have also started collecting their consignments under the coordination of the SSG and the Head of Service.

People across the state from all ramifications irrespective of their religion, tribe or political affiliations are commending the orderly manner of the distribution exercise, praising and giving kudos to His Excellency Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, the Kebbi State Governor.
