CHAPTER TWELVE
Farida on the other hand left the company immediately after the call and drove home. She was thinking of getting some rest, a day off isn’t bad after all.
When she got home, she walked to the door and was about to turn the door knob when she heard voices coming from within.
She hid by the window and peeped through. A young guy of about twenty something was arguing with Husna, probably mama wasn’t home.
How comes they did not notice her car drove into the compound, were they so carried away?
Quickly she brought out her phone and took a video of what was happening. Her ears were so heavy to hear this alone.
She was stunned for some moments, the words she heard were so unbelievable.
When she noticed the guy was about coming out, she tiptoed to the back door and went in. The door was leading directly to the room she had moved into so no one would notice her presence once she remained indoor.
She heard the door opened and then got slammed back, she knew the guy had left.
She was pacing to and fro in her room, who could have thought this little girl can be this cunning and all along she had blamed her innocent husband.
I need to act fast or else this will slide by like nothing happened. She brought out her phone from the purse in her bag and gave Dr Hassan a call.
“Good day doctor, I was thinking if you are not busy, I could book an appointment. Am ready to see the result”. She said straightforwardly and hung up after his reply.
Actually they had gone for test two years back after much persuasion from her husband but she insisted she wouldn’t glance at the result for the fear of breaking down emotionally and then Bello requested the doctor keep it in safe hands till they were ready for it.
Through the back door, she sneaked out again and drove out.

In doctor Hassan’s office, he kept staring at her like he wanted to figure out something. In the end, he nodded his head and adjusted his glasses while flipping through the report before him.
“Madam are you really sure about this”? He asked her again to be sure she was emotionally ready for it.
‘Yes I am’. She bluntly replied.
“Okay then since you said so” He said and handed the report over to her.
She also went through it. She isn’t an illiterate but she hardly understood what was written in there.
“I don’t understand”. She croaked out.
“Don’t worry I will explain” He said.
“It is stated in there that there is nothing wrong with your body system. Your ovaries appear to be healthy, your fallopian tubes are intact and you have no hormonal imbalance”………..so why am I yet to conceive? She interrupted the doctor.
“Well you see, your husband is the one with the problem”. The doctor replied doubting his confidence.
‘That can’t be true’ she croaked out.
“Am sorry to say, but from the test we conducted on him, he is suffering from a severe case of oligospermia. In lane man’s term, he has an extremely low sperm count. He produces less than 15m spermatozoa in ejaculation which is far lower than what is required in ejaculation” The doctor explained.
Farida was dumbfounded, she had words stuck in her throat that she couldn’t say. Now it dawned on her why that guy was in the house earlier. He is actually the father of what Husna is carrying.
Wonders shall never end. This will be a huge slap to mama’s face.
The doctor wrapped himself tighter with his coat and relaxed on his chair while Farida stood up.
“Thank you doctor” she said and left after collecting Bello’s report too.

She got into her car and held the steering wheel for quite sometime without saying a word. Moment ago, her mood was still high but now it has fallen into the depths of the abyss.
Eventually she later left the hospital premises. She did not go home directly, rather she drove to a beach outskirts the city.
The atmosphere there was calm and alluring. There were few people present there and they all minded their business.
The view of a couple playing with their kids at the river bank caught her attention. They were so cute together. That is the power of a family.
Here she is going to spend the rest of her life without children.
In the beach, she made up her mind to stay with Bello till death do them apart, she wouldn’t be a wife that will probably run away from her husband because he was in a mess. The only solution she had in mind was to adopt a child.
She cried her eyes out before leaving there and headed home but to her greatest surprise, most of her belongings were scattered all over the compound.
