Kaduna LG Polls: APC wins Sabon Gari

The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) has declared Alhaji Mohammed Usman of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Sabon Gari Local Government Council chairmanship contest.

The Returning Officer (RO), Malam Abubakar-Mohammed Sadiq made the announcement in the early hours of Sunday in Sabon Gari, Zaria adding that Usman has satisfied the requirements of the law and scored highest votes.

The returning officer said Usman scored 32,405 votes to defeated his closest contender Alhaji Abdu Bello of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 13,777 Votes.

“Therefore, Alhaji Mohammed Usman of the APC is hereby returned elected,”‘ Sadiq said.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that SIECOM had conducted the local council elections on Sept. 4 across 19 local governments in the state.

In spite of some technical hitches occasioned by the electronic voting machines, low turn out of voters, the election has been conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.
