Gov. Bagudu swears in 21 LGs Chairmen, calls for hard work, fairness

History was again recorded in Kebbi State on Wednesday as the state Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu swore in 21 elected Local Governments Chairmen and their deputies, amidst pomp and pageantry .

Bagudu also charged them to be dedicated, hard working, honest and fair to all, even as he reminded the new officials to take their entire local governments as their constituencies.

” You should also know that your elections were Divinely Ordained and not because of your individual triumphs.

” The oath of office have just elavated you from the realm of your respective political parties to the realm of leadership.

” You should also study your oath of office and seek the support of all your loved ones in order to succeed in the discharge of your arduous responsibilities.” Bgaudu, admonished.

According to the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, the new officials must work for the benefit of all , irrespective of any political leanings.

The Kebbi state Governor further admonished them to listen to the voices of everybody, including those who elected them and otherwise, adding,” this is to show that your victories are not misplaced.”

Bagudu said,” in politics, its always hard work and nothing but hard work. Our people want our political leaders to be united ,for the state to blossom.”

He cited example with President Muhammadu Buhari whom according him had to contest 3 times before he won in 2015.

Bagudu also noted that, inspite of religious teachings, people of the state have continued to elect women, saying that, sixteen women had been elected as Cocunillors.

He charged the elected Chairmen to also do more to better the lives of youths and the physically challenged in order to better their lives.

He also disclosed plans by the state government to reintroduce the Area Development Councils, along with the appointment of their Chairmen, deputies and Councillors.

The Governor in the end commended the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission ( KESIEC) , the Security, the Media the Political parties as well as the electotorates for the peaceful election conducted across the state.

The Chairman of Birnin Kebbi local Government Area, Hon Aminu Sarkin Fada offered vote of thanks on behalf of the elected Council Chairmen.

He thanked the governor for believing in them and his support which according to him was instrumental to their success.

He appreciated the APC stakeholders who were involved in making sure they emerged as the APC candidates as well as the electotorates for enduring to vote them into office.

Fada assured the governor of the unflinching resolve of the newly elected Chairmen to support him in moving Kebbi State forward.

Earlier, the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Babale Umar Yauri prior to the formal swearing of the elected Chairmen announced their names with their deputies while the State Chief Judge , Justice Suleiman Muhammad Ambursa administered on them oath of office and allegiance .

The event was well attended by Commissioners, Special Advisers, politicians and party supporters .
