Bauchi Assembly To Partner New Commissioner Of Police On Curbing Insecurity

Bauchi State House of Assembly has expressed its determination in partnering with the newly posted Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, in ensuring peace and curbing insecurity in all parts of the State.

Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman made this known when he received in audience the Police Commissioner who paid him a courtesy visit in his office, today.

The Speaker who congratulated the new Commissioner for his posting to Bauchi and appreciated him for the visit to the Legislative Arm, said that his posting to Bauchi came at time when the State is facing some security challenges.

He expressed the satisfaction of the Assembly on how the Commissioner hit the ground running as soon as he stepped into Bauchi by doing everything possible to secure the State.

The Speaker noted that security is everybody’s responsibility hence all stakeholders and citizens of the State must ensure they work together to rid the State of any security problem.

According to the Speaker, Bauchi State is one of the safest States in the Country however some miscreants who are mostly leftovers from some Northwest States suffering from insecurity, are coming into the State.

He expressed optimism that with present of the new Commissioner and his capable men, the State will be secured.

Speaker Abubakar Suleiman also commended the Police Commissioner for promptly providing vehicle to Burra Division immediately after a request was put to him by member representing Burra Constituency Hon. Ibrahim Tanko Burra, saying the gesture signifies the fact that he made his door open for Honourable Members for assistance on all security matters.

He assured him that Bauchi State House of Assembly will remain helpful and cooperative to Nigeria Police Force in their duty of securing all parts of the State, stressing that the Honourable Members are the State’s major stakeholders, thus they will do their possible best on security of the State.

While praying for the end of insecurity in the State and the Country in general, the Speaker urged the Commissioner to continue making his door open for the legislators.

Earlier speaking, the new Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Muhammad said that his visit to the Assembly is to familiarize with the Members of the Legislative Arm in his determination to ensure that people of Bauchi State enjoy peace and go out for their businesses without any problem.

He stated that the State is facing some security challenges such as banditry in Ningi Local Government, Sara suka in Bauchi Metropolis among others.

The Commissioner further said that the level of tempo in the Command is high as they have arrested large number of suspected Sara-suka criminals.

CP Auwal Hassan further stated that he had visited the Executive Governor of the State His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad and together, they have formalized ways to work with legislative arm and the judiciary in handling the massive arrest of the suspected criminals, saying he had held meetings with Chief Judge of the State and sister security agencies on the matter.

While noting that from what he has seen in some States, Bauchi is better in security, he assured the State Assembly that the Police will minimize level of crime in the State.
