APC holds peaceful local government Congress through consensus in Kebbi

The All Progressive Congress, APC in Kebbi State this Saturday conducted local Government Congress across the the 21 local government areas of the state peacefully.

In Birnin Kebbi local government area where the state governor , Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and the Minister for Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN hails from, the Congress took place peacefully at Justice Ibrahim Umar Limanci Model Primary School in GRA just like in the rest of the local government areas of the state .

Shortly after the opening prayers, the Chairman State organising committee, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan welcomed the monitoring team from the National Headquarters of APC, Abuja led by Mr. Osita Okechukwu , all delegates as well as stakeholders to the venue.

Ladan urged delegates to conduct themselves orderly to reflect its status as the home base of the governor and the Minister for Justice.

The supervising team from the National Headquarters of APC, Abuja led by Mr. Osita Okechukwu while declaring the commencement of the local government Congress, stated that the last ward congress held in the state was adjudged to be one of the best and mostly peaceful in the country.

He called on the delegates to maintain the same peaceful atmosphere for the local government election and commended governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for heralding President Muhammad Buhari”s rice revolution which according to him enveloped the nation and stopped it from importing foreign rice into the country .

Osita also commended the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN for returning over 1 billion dollars Nigeria ‘s stolen money back home.

He commeded the APC in Kebbi for carrying women along while urging the party to maintain the same tempo in subsequent elections.

He also announced that the party at national level made it incumbent on States to include a woman in every three delegates going to Abuja for National Convention.

The local Government Congress election committee Chairman, Alhaji Alaramma Warah told the gathering that the committee acted on the decision of the stakeholders and delegates which opted for consensus arrangement instead of election.

He openly inquired from the delagates which of the two options between election and consensus they preferred.

The delegates overwhelmingly opted for consensus through a popular voice ” We want consensus, we want consensus ! ‘, they shouted.

Thereafter, one of the stakeholders of the party , retired Assitant Inspector General of Police, Umar Ambursa came out on behalf of members, stakeholders and elected officials ward officials declared and affirmed their unanimous choice of concensus option for the emergence of local government delegates and keaders of the party.

A stakeholder of the party, the Personal Assistant to the Governor, PA, Alhaji Faruk Musa Yaro commended delegates for their unity of purpose, thanking the governor for leading the party to success.

One of the elected delegates to the national convention , a two time gubernatorial candidate, an active stakeholder of the APC, a retired Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Alhaji Abubakar Malan and Alhaji Sani Hukuma Zauro, Chairman of APC Elders Forum , in their vote of thanks said the party opted for consensus because of the purposeful leadership qualities of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for uniting the party under one fold.

Also the Chairman of APC Elders Forum Alhaji Sani Hukuma thanked the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN for his physical presence at the congress.

He also extolled governor Bagudu for his records of achievement in moving the state forward in all sectors.

In a remark, the Minister for Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN thanked God for blessing the state with an array of professionals in all fields of human endeavor including politics.

The minister commended the leadership of governor Bagudu as the APC Progressive Governors’Forum Chairman describing it as fruitful .

” In addition the governor has capable hands as aides at the state level who contributed immensely for the success of the party”, he averred.

He urged delegates to maintain peaceful atmosphere as recorded during the last ward congress across the state.

Earlier, the State Acting caretaker Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana, prayed for successful tenure of the new local government executives .

He warned them to be loyal , obedient to APC and respect leaders of the party.

At the venue of the Congress, Justice Ibrahim Umar Limanci Model Primary School in GRA, INEC and security personnel were visible.
