For centuries people in the North have been living peacefully with one another, irrespective of religious or tribal differences. The choice of Senator Kashim Shettima is like selecting a representative of the whole, because of his tangible and unifying leadership in the North. Not only has he served well as a unifying leader in multiethnic and multi religious Borno State, he was exemplary as Chairman of Northern Governor’s Forum.
He therefore transcends all narrow ethnic or religious constructs. NEYIPO hereby affirms to H. E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he should have no iota of fear over the unholy utterances by certain hypocritical political leaders taking cover as religious leaders. There despicable utterances are uncalled for and shameful.
More strategic ways to achieve check and balance in a democracy allows for a Christian leader to lead the Legislature as Senate President and Speaker of the House. The last Christian Senate President was David Mark from the North when President was also a Christian from the South. If the narrow minded leaders are serious about diversity they should first promote gender equity since women are more than half of Nigerian population and have never been President or Vice President, or even Senate President or Governor.
Mass majority of Christians in the North would therefore vote APC at all levels in order to have the country of our dreams.
Nobody will disenfranchise any of his or her choice, NorthEast Youth Initiative for Peace and Orientation (NEYIPO) urges the general public to shun acts that are detrimental to peace and development of our dear Nigeria. Hence the need for all law abiding citizens to support the choice of Kashim Shattima as Vice Presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC).
The problems bedevilling our country currently will be resolve if we are United and all will come pass with Tinubu/Shattima steering the affairs due to their wonderful performances in their respective States as past Governors and as national leaders.
NEYIPO therefore will organise mega rallies all over the nation to reawaken youths who are the highest population to support and vote Tinubu/Shattima on the APC Platform.
