Bauchi Speaker Conducts Town Hall Meeting With Stakeholders In His Constituency

Politics is a game of impact, different people contest for positions with promises of bringing positive changes. Many leaders have adopted various ways in identifying bedeviling challenges of the people they govern or represent. God has blessed Bauchi and in particular Ningi with a brainiac leader who is far better than million others. The giant strides of democratic dividends provided by Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman (Ɗangaladiman Ningi) to his constituents have cut across sectors, genders, wards and zones. Despite impacting on the lives of countless number of people, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman conducted a Town Hall Meeting in Ningi which granted equal opportunity for residents of various wards under his Constituency present theur community problems.

Participants of the first of its kind Town Hall Meeting include lommunity leaders, religious preachers, present and former councillors, party members, organizational heads, the elderlies, youth and women. During the event, projects implemented by Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman who is currently a member in the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Ningi central were itemised. Here are some the impacts made in 5 years;

1. Supporting women in every polling unit with capitals to start businesses in order to be self reliants.

2. Distribution of hundred (100) motorcycles and give (5) cars to his supporters and other people.

3. Provision of seventy (70) sewing machines, one hundred and fifty (150) sphagetti making device along with bags of flour and distribution of cartons of indomie, eggs and milk to tea vendors in various wards of his Constituency.

4. Financial support of seven million (7) naira to people of his constituency purposely to cussion the effects of poverty and economic hardships.

5. Permanent appointments with Federal Government to six (6) youth of Ningi into Civil Depense.

6. Securing appointments to five (5) young men with Bauchi State Government.

7. Provided new Transformer to Gangaren Maje village along with four hundred and fifty thousand (450,000) for the renovation of a mosque in the area.

8. Gave two hundred thousand (200,000) for the repair of a transformer in Gadar Maiwa and another four hundred thousand (400,000) for the purchase of land as graveyard.

9. Provided big brand new Generator to the Mosque of Zakara village.

10. Construction of two blocks of classrooms at Yalwan Kankare village for education to thrive.

11. Building of more classrooms at Dogon Maje village.

12. Drilled thirty five (35) boreholes in different areas of Ningi Local Government.

13. Installation of solar Street lights to many axis of Ningi.

14. Five hundred and seventy thousand (570,000) naira was given for fixing of a Transformer at Obasanjo lane in Ningi.

15. Fixing of Transformers at Garin Guda, Makwalla, Sabuwar Kwalta and Daɗin Kowa areas.

16. Repairing of pedestrian passage at Tsangayar Maje in order to curve accidents.

17. Electrification to Ningi and beyond immediately after winning election.

18. Played vital role to the State Government for the construction of roads that linked Balma to Arinja.

19. Dualization of roads that Governor Bala Mohammed (Ƙauran Bauchi) did, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman performed over 75% in drawing Governor’s attention to it.

20. Brought qualified Doctors to Gangaren Maje village for medical check-up and drugs were given all free of charge.

21. Sponsored Opticians to Ningi where over 180 people were taken to Makkah Eye Hospital in Bauchi metropolis for free operations and transport fares of all were covered.

22. Secured admissions and sponsored Ningi youth into higher institutions in Bauchi and other States.

23. In every month, he sets over two million 2,000,000) naira to financially support people of his constituency.

24. When kidnapping was tensed in Ningi, as a Speaker he helped in ensuring adequate security in Ningi.

25. Provision of food items and basic necessities to victims of fire outbreak in Rafin Ciyawa village.

26. Provided interlocks to Juma’at mosque of NEPA area.

27. Rebranded office of Jama’atu Nasrul Islam which is located at Emir’s drive.

28. Constructed a road from highway into Lumbu village.

29. Sponsored JAMB registration fee for thousands of candidates from Ningi and beyond.

30. Provided food of food of three hundred and fifty (350) people every day during Ramadan period, at the end over ten thousand five hundred (10,500) people were fed.

31. Performed excellently toward the promotion of civil servants from Local Government to State Government.

32. Organised football matches titled ‘Dangaladima Unity Cup’ were teams in Ningi and other places participated complete set of free jerseys were given and Ɗanyaya Warriors that won the cup was given a cash gift of two hundred thousand (200,000), runner up team went home with hundred thousand (100,000), and each Goal keepers in final match was given thirty thousand 30,000) while players that played in all matches were given some amounts.

33. Twenty (20) bags of Cement were provided for the reconstruction of culverts in Nasaru town.

34. Presently, Federal Government Girls College is under construction which Ɗangaladiman did everything in securing it and late Emir of Ningi gave spacious land for building it.

35. Construction of drainages and bridges along Zaziga road.

36. Financial support of three hundred thousand (300,000) naira and one thousand blocks to hospital in Eastern Ningi.

37. Supplied blocks and cement for the construction of drainages behind Emir’s palace.

38. Construction of culvert at America area of Ningi Local Government Area.

39. Ten trailers of sand to Harkama for fixing their road.

40. Bought over two hundred (200) ceilings to Central Mosque of Siri village.

41. Four hundred thousand (400,000) naira support to Maje mosque.

42. Youths were trained into various skills such as carpentry, shoe making and tools needed were given to them.

43. Volunteer teachers were sponsored to aid teaching in Jimi school.

44. When Federal Government increased tuition fees to Universities, he assisted students from Ningi with money for registrations.

Former PDP Chairman in Ningi, Alhaji Ɗanlami Dambu revealed that some of the projects of the Honorable Speaker were not mentioned, a mosque in his ward was built by the Speaker and people fervently pray for God to uplift him after every blessed day prayers. Harisu Haruna was given chance to talk on behalf of Coordinators of Ɗangaladima in wards, he informed that the Speaker employed idle youth to ensure maximum security within and outside Ningi Hospital. The event was colourful as fellow Honourable Members representing Burra, Hon. Tanko Ibrahim Burra, Warji Hon. Garba Lawal and Madara/Chinade Hon. Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala attended it.

In his remarks, Hon. Tanko Ibrahim Burra said that the Town Hall Meeting of the Speaker has given him hint on areas to prioritize, he further said that the Speaker helped in maintaining adequate security when kidnappers disturbed Burra and other areas. Hon. Burra promised to conduct similar meeting with stakeholders in his constituency before this year runs out. Hon. Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala maintained that this is a golden chance for people to forward their demands, resolving such problems would make electorates love leaders more, he then prayed for all as leaders to continue providing amenities to people. Hon. Garba Lawal emphasized that has been touching lives of people beyond his constituency, projects of the Speaker supposed to be done by representative at National Assembly due to their voluminous impacts.

Hon. Musa Yalo, the Deputy Chairman of PDP in Ningi pleaded that executives of the party at ward levels should be included in events, projects and programs of the Speaker. The Women Leader of PDP in Ningi, Hajiya Lami shower encomiums on the Speaker, she reiterated that more women are now fully in support of the him. She begged that a road leading to hospital in her ward needs urgent intervention, while ceiling to a mosque there has fallen on worshippers which also need to be fixed. Furthermore, complains from other communities and demands on challenges were forwarded in papers.

The chief host and sponsor of the Town Hall Meeting, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman (Ɗangaladiman Ningi) in his comment said that all Members in the State House of Assembly wished to attend the event but the high table would not accommodate them that was why he came along with few. “This is a new initiative in Ningi or in Bauchi entirely, but it is imperative upon elected individuals to be conducting it from time to time. Whatever one could do despite the existence of social media platforms and radio stations, not all projects implemented could disseminate to everybody. Even if one performed wonderfully must be ready for criticism, imagine those that never try reposing the confidence of the electorates. Some that are knowledgeable of the projects still criticise us but we chose to keep providing amenities to our people. The Speaker revealed.

Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleimant stated that “We always forgive those that insult us knowingly or unknowingly. This event as you are all aware, we have summoned not less than ten (10) representatives from every ward under my Constituency, representatives from party at Local Government level and members from various organizations. In totality, we have gotten two hundred and fifty (250) participants, every registered representative with a tag will go home with ten thousand (10,000) naira. We have given directly to 20 people here, the rest will receive theirs from the organising committee which involves trusted members; this is another way of supporting people in order to minimize the effect of economic hardships in the country.

“You have heard what we were able to do for the benefit of our constituents, many have complained of not hearing what were done in their wards but I told some that not everything is contained in the list due to time factor. As the saying goes ‘We haven’t started just to stop’, these are just the beginning of more democratic dividends and life sustaining projects to come. We are therefore as usual soliciting for your unwavering cooperations, tireless prayers and fruitful advices for us to succeed in our good missions of making life easier. As said by Hon. Dr. Ala, Honourable Members have three major roles which comprise of making laws, checkmating the Executive Arm of Government and representation as we are doing now. All that were said are in the aspects of representation, in the area of making laws, we were able to make several Bills since in the 9th Assembly, and votes you casted on us will continue to attract more developmental projects for women and youth, “. The Speaker maintained.

In summary, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman concluded with a special thanks to his wife, Hajiya Aby Hafsat who inspired him to spearhead the event, he appreciated Ningi women for the award bestowed on her and promised to work on all the demands submitted.
