In a dramatic turn of events Sunday, a nephew of Sokoto State All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko denounced his allegiance to the party.

This is as the state Deputy Governor, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, who is also the main challenger of Wamakko for the Sokoto North Senatorial seat, forecasted the downfall of his opponent in the forthcoming election.

Zayyanu Wamakko dumped the APC when the state campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stormed the hometown of the ex-Governor in the third leg of its statewide campaign attended by the Kebbi state gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Gen. Aminu Bande (rtd).

Zayyanu, who is also son in-law of the current Minister for Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dingyaɗi, also an APC leader in the state, told PDP supporters at the campaign ground that his move was inspired by the progressive spiri of Governor, Tambuwal.

He said what attracted him to join the PDP with his teeming supporters were the developmental landmarks of the current state administration, thus emphasizing his readiness to work for the party in its efforts to advance the lives of the people.

Meanwhile, angling his cap in the dress style of his political opponent, Hon. Dan Iya, said he would floor Wamakko before 12 noon on the election day.
