2023: Junaidu Wasagu decamps to the APC

A staunch PDP member in Kebbi State, Hon. Junaidu Wasagu has decamped to the APC.

Alhaji Junaidu Wasagu was formally received into the fold of the ruling party this Monday by the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana Zuru at the APC Secretariat, Birnin Kebbi.

The former PDP member from Danko-Wasagu Local Government defected to the APC with all the PDP ward chairmen in the ward, executive members including youth and women leaders.

Other top APC state executive members who welcomed the new arrivals were, the Chairman, APC Elders’ Forum, Alhaji Sani Hukuma Zauro, Zannan Gwandu, the APC Zonal Vice-Chairman, Kebbi North, Alhaji Sahabi Lolo, the Chairman, Argungu Local Government Council, Hon. Salihu Ahmad KC and other stalwarts.

Addressing the gathering, Alhaji Junaidu Wasagu said lack of equity, fairness and injustice in the PDP influenced his decision to decamp to the APC.

He also acknowledged the kindness and love shown to members of the opposition parties by Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and the APC state gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, as major motivating factor for their entrance into the APC.

Alhaji Junaidu Wasagu pledged absolute loyalty to the APC and commitment to ensuring the victory of the party in the forthcoming polls with emphasis in Danko-Wasagu Local Government.

Receiving the PDP decampees, the Kebbi State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana Zuru, described Alhaji Junaidu Wasagu as a famous politician of repute whose entry into the APC has added to the formidability of the party.

Alhaji Kana Zuru remarked that APC has always been a home for Junaidu Wasagu, describing his defection from the PDP to the party as a home-coming for a worthy son.

The APC State Chairman made it clear that Alhaji Junaidu Wasagu and his supporters were now bonafide members of the APC enjoying all rights and privileges like other members.

Consequently, Alhaji Kana Zuru directed APC wards executive members in Danko-Wasagu to offer the position of Vice-Chairman at ward level to all the former PDP ward chairmen who decamped to the APC with Junaidu Wasagu.

In addition, former PDP Ward Secretaries and other exco members would be automatically co-opted into the APC exco in their respective wards.

Kebbi State APC Chairman of Elders’ Forum, Alhaji Sani Hukuma, Zannan Gwandu, the APC Zonal Vice Chairman, Kebbi North, Alhaji Sahabi Lolo and the Chairman of Argungu Local Government Council, Hon. Salihu Ahmad KC who spoke on the occasion, rejoiced with the APC for receiving Junaidu Wasagu into its fold, and commended Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for facilitating the entry of members of the opposition parties into the APC because of his good leadership qualities.

Similarly, the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Kana Zuru formally received a top women leader of the PDP, Hajiya Hannatu Wasagu who defected to the APC from PDP.
