World Bank IMPACT project trains over 80 stakeholders on quality care in Bauchi

In an effort to arrest maternal and child mortality in Bauchi state, A five-day State Training of Trainers on Quality of Care has been commenced for stakeholders from primary and tertiary health institution in Bauchi.

The training is organized by Bauchi state Primary Healthcare development agency, under the World Bank assisted Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress By Accelerating Coverage And Transforming Services (IMPACT) project, being benefits by the state.

Welcoming the participants, The State Project Manager of IMPACT, Dr Adamu Muhammad said the objectives of the training were to build the participants’ knowledge and skills on Quality Improvement in Primary Healthcare facilities.

He said as the state achieved a tremendous success in renovation and establishment of both primary and tertiary health institution there is need for modalities to be required in ensuring quality and satisfied services.

Dr. Adamu Muhammad opined that facilities should ensure inclusion of every staff in the planning and implementation processes of the project, assured that it would have direct impact in their success.

Speaking during the training, the Executive Chairman of the Agency, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed described a Quality of Care as very vital in all aspects of health care sector of Bauchi state.

The BSPHCDA boss warned the participants on the need for proper adherence to the code of conduct of their profession as the agency will never adore negligence and indispline from any staff.

He equally tasks the participants to ensure maximum attention throughout the five-day period to enable them give out the right message to their subordinates at their respective health facilities.

A Resource Person from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) Dr Bello Bakunawa explained the criteria followed in choosing Bauchi as one of the benefiting states was not unconnected to the fact that it has abundance of development and donor partners as well as having an existing sustainability plan.

He acknowledged that the state is among the best in the successful implementation of the World Bank assisted Nigeria State Health Investment Project (NSHIP).

Dr. Bakunawa commended the state government for timely release of counter fund money for the implemention of various developmental projects in the state and called for it sustainability.
