Workers Day: Kebbi Government reaffirms commitment to workers welfare

The Kebbi State Government has reaffirmed it commitment to improving the welfare of retired and serving civil servants in the State.

The Governor stated this at the 2022 Workers Day Celebration held at the Banquet Hall of Presidential lodge in Birnin Kebbi this Thursday.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who was represented by the State Acting Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Sufiyanu Garba Bena, said Government would not relent on its efforts towards collaborating with NLC in order to achieve it set objectives.

Alhaji Sufiyanu Garba Bena added that, the present administration was doing everything possible to better the lives of both retired and serving workers in the State.

He added that gratuity of all categories of retirees of 2017,2018,2019,2020 have been paid, with efforts on top gear to settle the retirees their 2021 entitlements.

He further explained that Kebbi State Government under the able leadership of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has recorded significant development in Health, Education, Agriculture and other sectors of the State.

The Acting Head of Service also acknowledged the existing cordial relationship between the State Government and the Organized labour in the State.

On security, he stated that the Kebbi State Government was making effort to ensure that all parts of the state are safe and secured , so that the lives and properties of people in the state are protected.

According to him , the State Government has been assisting security agencies by providing the needed logistics support to carry out their operations, visit of encouragement by the Governor as well as assistance to the families of bereaved soldiers and other security personnel.

On his part, the Deputy National vice president of the Nigerian Labour Congress who is also the National President of NUT , Dr. Nasiru Idris, Kauran Gwandu called on the State government to consider the demand of the State chapter of the organized Labour.

Also Speaking, Honourable Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN commended the State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for the payment of gratuity to retired civil servants in the State.

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, SAN used the medium to congratulate the NLC for the 2022 workers Day celebration.

Speaking earlier, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Umar Halidu Alhassan called on the State Government to issue a circular for the payment of Thirty thousand Naira Minimum wage initiated in 2019.

Comrade Umar Halidu Alhassan also appeal for the payment of outstanding leave grants , enrollment of Workers into Kebbi State Contributory Health Care scheme and Implementation of new retirement age for teachers as approved by president Muhammadu Buhari.
