URBAN DEVELOPMENT: BASG inaugurates Committee on development control

The High Powered Committee on Development Control in Bauchi, Azare, Misau, Jama’are and Ningi was inaugurated to address development control in these areas.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at the State Urban Planning & Development Board conference hall, the General Manager of the board, Engineer Abdulkarim Sulaiman Hassan congratulated the Committee members for their nomination which he said was based on merit.

He explained that Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has approved the constitution of the High Powered Taskforce Committee to address development control issues in the state.

He stated that the 12 member Committee under the Representative of the Commissioner of Police, is to identify and remove all physical infringement in encroachment of lands, right of way, waterways etc.

Engineer Abdulkarim said other terms of reference of the Committee include identifying formal trades that deface streets or distort Bauchi Master plan and remove same, identify unsafe U-turns on both Federal and state roads and remove same.

He said the Committee has three months to complete it’s assignment and submit report to Government.

Responding on behalf of the chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan thank the state government for considering them to serve in the Committee and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He charged members of the Committee to put their best while discharging the assignment given to them, saying the job is not an easy task but is summountable.

He enjoined all stakeholders and members of the public to cooperate with the Committee, so as to succeed.
