UNIJOS VC Marks One Year In Office, Counts Achievements Amid Challenges

The Vice Chancllor University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya says his one year Anniversary has recorded tremondous achievements despite eight months Academic disruption courtsy of ASUU Strike.

Professor Tanko Ishaya made this known in a press briefing recently at the Senate chambet of the institution while reeling out his records of successes and challenges within the past one year.

Professor Ishaya maintained that he olny had a realistic four months in office during which his administration had positively impacted the institution especially in the light of research drive, grant attraction, welfare of staff and students among others.

He specifically mentioned that his administration has not left any stone unturned neither will it relent in its oars towards pursuit of academic excellence in view of beign recognised among best higher institutions in Nigeria, Africa and the world.

According to him, they have initiated a close relationship with host communities who he believed are immediate benefiaries of good tidiings of development in terms of ecomic development.

He insisted that it is salient to build cordial relationship with the host communities even in terms security of staff and students of the institutions.

The VC mentioned disruption of academic activities by the 8 months old Nationwide strike, destruction of some of its infrastructure by windstorm, accidental fire oubreak of its Vertas some of the major challenges that greeted his one year in Office.

He however the management responded to some of the emergencies and doing every thing it can to come back to its normal footing especially in the area of destruction.

He equally said the door of partnership is open with organisations both National and International, individual philatropists and cooperate bodies to better the lots of the institution.
