Members of the Unijos Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited have elected new executive officers to pilot the affairs of the cooperative for the next two years.

Our correspondent learnt that the cooperative election which took place at the Multipurpose auditorium Bauchi Road Campus of the institution on Thursday was adjudged free, fair and credible.

While Congratulating the newly elected Executives, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Doctor Ahidjo Embugushiki, enjoined them to lead and have a Cooperative Society that is functional for all and not a few.

Speaking after the keenly contested election, the president, Mr Aondohemba pledged that his leadership would carry all members along without discrimination or prejudice.

While reiterating his commitment to work within the guidelines of the society, leverage on transparency and accountability as the watchword of the newly elected officials, he implored necessary support from members to enable them move the cooperative forward.

On her part, the Public Relation Officer-elect, Juliana Olajide, appreciated members for coming out en mass to exercise their civic responsibility as members of the cooperative.

Mrs Olajide, who got the highest votes among the different positions contested, further stressed the need of her office and promised to use her wealth of experience as a media professional to strategically communicate and project the Society which is a process to build a mutually beneficial relationship with the general public.

Out of 929 accredited voters, the Financial Secretary polled a total of 470 votes, the Assistant Secretary 351, while the PRO returned a total of 678 votes.

Those elected are, Ukpo Aondohemba as President; Kanang Akims, Vice President; Sattong Rebecca, Treasurer, Makvreng Kumbe, Secretary General and Doctor Morgan Piwuna as Legal Adviser who were all returned unopposed while Pam Musa was elected as Financial secretary and Juliana Olajide was elected as PRO as Chamkida Nenkus clinched the position of assistant secretary.

All the officers elected await certificates of return. The inauguration which will signal the commencement of their tenure, is slated for a date in November 2022.
