Traditional institution, SBMCs, Women groups in Bauchi to revive Early Grade Reading (EGR) in Basic Education

Bauchi State Government and Connected Development Organization (CODE), a non governmental organization has called on the education stakeholders in the state to support Early Grade Reading (EGR) to basic Students for effective teaching and learning.

The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Jamila Muhammad Dahiru gave this statement at a parley meeting with Schools Based Management Committees (SBMCs), Traditional institution, Women groups as well as representatives of people living with disabilities among others.

Dr. Jamila Dahiru said the present administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad are doing everything possible towards improving Education system in the state.

In his contribution, Dr. Augustine Okire from Connected Development Organization (CODE) said the organization is partnering relevant key players in education sector such as Leveraging Assistance Education Resources in Nigeria LEARN to READ Project, USAID and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) towards revamping and provide permanent solutions in that direction.

Dr. Augustine also said (CODE) visited over 300 public schools across the state in an effort to review the existing policy of early grade reading for effective service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution during the occasion, the District Head of Miri Mallam Hussaini Abubakar Othman promised to work together with relevant stakeholders in the education system towards achieving the desired goals.
