To fast track completion, Zulum visits Borno’s University Teaching Hospital

In order to fast track the completion of an ongoing work of the State University Teaching Hospital, the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Friday visited the hospital site to assess work level.

The State University work which began in November last year, the Governor said is to enable the state owned University start course in medicine and other allied subjects.

Besides been used for academic activities, the Governor explained that the hospital will provide affordable and quality healthcare services to the people of Borno in line with the administration’s health development programs.

The Governor commended the contractors for making quality work within considerable time.

“I am very impressed with the level and quality of work here, your performance is indeed wonderful. We will ensure requred funds are released for the other components to start immediately. I want all the works to progress at the same phase.”

“While the construction work is ongoing, we shall fast track the procurement of the medical facilities and insha Allah we hope to commission the hospital late next year.”Zulum said.

The minister of health, Osagie Ehanire performed the foundation stone laying of the hospital located at Maiduguri-Damaturu road near the main University campus.

Conducting the Governor round, the overseeing Engineer, Engr. Usman Tijjani Monguno explained that, General Out-patient Department (GOPD) which renders primary medical care, patients are seen, investigated, treated and those requiring specialist care referred to specialist consultant clinical is at 80% completion level.
