Some supporters of the Presidential Standard bearer of Labour Party in Bauchi has accused its Chairman Barrister Useni Saraki of working under ground to frustrate the efforts of Peter Obi’s ambition to win the 2023 Presidential election.
This is coming days after Peter Obi visited the state to campaign and woo residents of Bauchi to throw weight behind him for victory at the coming election.
Addressing pressmen on Saturday, spokesperson of the group Ciroma Iliya who identified himself as desk Officer Labour Party Bauchi raised an alarm that the Chairman is playing lip service wanting to sabotage the efforts of Obi to become President.
“When Peter Obi visited the state, the Executive of the party were not on ground to receive him, I did not see posters, no executive meeting was called regarding his visit; instead, the Chairman went and hired thugs to be in the Stadium in the name of supporters.
“We came into Labour Party because of Peter Obi, but we are surprised at what is happening; we have losed confidence entirely in the Chairman of Bauchi State.
” The Chairman just barricade everywhere allowing only family and friends to enjoy the party.
“The Chairman is still a Commissioner in the PDP, even as I speak to you today, he brought his brother for the gubenatorial in the state without our notice”, he said.
The Labour Party desk Officer in Bauchi added that it was after Peter Obi left Bauchi that he learnt that fifty million naira was given to run the campaign and the Chairman cornerred it.
“The Coordinator of Bauchi State Presidential campaign was not given anything; how can a presidential candidate be coming to a state and the coordinator will not br given anything?” he queried.
Another member of the aggrieved group who want his name unmentioned alleged that the Chairman just appoints and fires members of the Labour party in the state at will using religion to downplay their efforts.
He worries that,” Obi should know that at the polling unit all our party agents will be left at the mercy of the opposition parties PDP and APC if nothing is done about the alarm being raised”.
The group gave an ultimatum of one week for the National campaign council to address their concern or, they might take another step that may not favour the party.
Responding to the allegations via phone call, Chairman of the party Barrister Useni Saraki said the aggrieved members are the one causing problems for the party.
For the lack of posters during Obi’s visit, he said it is not his responsibility to provide them as other members of the campaign coucil has been assigned to do it and as such those are the ones to respond to that.
The Chairman however did not give any tangible response to other grave allegations like setting aside or not accounting for the fifty million naira given for the campaign.
