SNAKEBITE: BASG to establish centre for treatment of patients

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed today recieved in audience, officials of the Nigerian Snakebite Research and Intervention Centre based in Bayero University Kano who visited him at his official office, Government House Bauchi.

Governor Bala described their visit as timely considering the problem of snakebite facing various communities of the state.

He said his administration will work with them to establish a centre for the treatment of snakebite patients in the state.

The Governor enjoined them to support his administration in order to come to the aid of snakebite patients by alleviating their sufferings.

He said Duguri town is one of the area that was affected by the problem of snakebite in addition to other communities of the state.

Governor Bala promised to give the required support for the management of snakebite in the state and for the benefit of Nigerians.

The team leader, Professor Abdulrazaq Habib said the visit is to celebrate the 2020 International Snakebite awareness Day with the Governor because of his commitment to address the challenges of snakebite in the state.

He said over the years, the forum has conducted many programmes in Bauchi and other states especially in the area of training of healthcare workers and provision of equipments and instrument for clinical treatment.
