A Bauchi Based Islamic Scholar Sheik Tijjani Yusuf Guruntum has cautioned youths and women against misuse of the social media platforms.
Sheik Guruntum gave the warning during a weekly lecture in Bauchi tagged” misuse of the social media by youths and women.
The Islamic Cleric described as unfortunate and saddening the manner in which youths and women used social media platforms to watch and post unnecessary things to the public without remorse.
According to him, social media platforms are meant to accelerate development, now that the world has been reduced to a global village.
He advised Muslim youths and women to use the social media platforms to propagate Islamic knowledge rather than posting immoral things which he said they would be accounted for in hereafter.
Sheik Guruntum who quoted Verses from the holy Quran and the prophetic Hadith said that such abuses and unguarded comments by the social media users could bring about disunity and misunderstanding among people.
The Islamic Scholar who said that Islam emphasised morality and abhorred indiscipline, stressed the need for those in such habit to desist from it for their own good.
He added that youths and women spend almost 24 hours of their time on internet access facilities like phone, computer set accessing Facebook, Tik Tok, and WhatsApp without considering their Islamic books,
