Security operatives have launched a manhunt for bandits in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State following an attack on Banga village that left two people dead and 26 others abducted.

A resident, Ahmad Dan Baba Adamu, told Radio Nigeria that the attackers stormed the village around midnight, firing sporadically from multiple directions until about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

“They killed one man, Ibrahim Kafinta, and an 18-year-old girl, Amina Mande,” he said. “They also abducted 14 females and 12 males, making a total of 26 victims.”

Newsmen report that a combined team of military personnel and local vigilantes has since mobilized to block the bandits’ escape route around Yamutsawa village, with aerial support from the Nigerian Air Force. However, the attackers have not yet been intercepted.
