Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of Bauchi state has received the resignation letter of Hon. Mohammed A. Sadiq as the Commissioner for Commerce and industry.
A statement signed by the SSA Media to the Governor, Muktar Gidado quoted Hon. Mohammed as thanking Governor Kaura for the opportunity accorded him to serve as member of the state executive council.
According to the statement, the governor wished the former commissioner success in his future endeavours.
Recall that Mohammed A. Sadiq had on 19th of August, 2020 tendered his resignation letter to Governor Bala Mohammed during the State executive council meeting.
The letter reads:
“Alhamdullah, Masha Allah
Every beginning has an end.
Today, the 19th day of August, 2020, I have honourably tendered my voluntary resignation as a Commissioner (Ministry of Commerce & Industries) and a Member of the State Executive Council in the Government of Bauchi State.
It was a rare privilege and opportunity to have served my state in such an exalted position.
I thank H.E the Executive Governor – Sen. Bala A. Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi) for the wonderful opportunity accorded to me. In the same vein, I must appreciate my boss H.E, the Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara for his usual support and the role he played in influencing same.
I sincerely thank all my colleagues in the EXCO and the Ministry, whom we have worked with as a formidable team.
I have enjoyed the Understanding of my family at such a trying time.
I beseech God to forgive all my wrongs and the general public/colleagues to pardon me.
I urge you to help me, pray God to grant me success, contentment and peace of mind in my new endeavour.
Thank you all and remain blessed”
He later announced same on his Facebook page, late Wednesday night.
Mr. Alhassan Sadiq was appointed as Commissioner from Dass Local Government Area, which is one of the LGAs the former Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara represents.
Those familiar with his political journey said Mr. Sadiq had enjoyed the backing of Mr Dogara in getting political appointments and elections including membership of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Chairman of Dass LGA as well as a legislative aide and his last appointment, a Commissioner.
Therefore, one shouldn’t be surprised if the sudden resignation of the Commissioner was influenced by his boss, Dogara as stated in the letter.
Yakuba Dogara has been inconsistent in his party membership. He changes from one political party to the other in order to remain in power.
An exploration into his political annals revealed that in 2014, the former Speaker alongside other rebellious members of the PDP which was tagged the ‘New PDP’ defected to APC as the 2015 election approaches. After making it to the Federal House of Representatives under the platform of the APC, Yakubu Dogara together with people like the former President of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki revolted against the leadership of the APC, consequently, took over the leadership of the legislative chambers with the support of the PDP legislators.
As soon as Dogara emerged as the Speaker, his relationship with the then governor of Bauchi State, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar became bitter. With the increase of feud, the Speaker could see himself losing the 2019 ticket, considering the fact that the APC State Chairman is a loyalist of the Gov. Muhammad Abubakar. Dogora exhibited his chameleonic ability by returning to the PDP on 20th September, 2018. After being reelected as member representing Dass, Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro Federal constituency, he stayed in the party for some time and eventually tossed to his former party-APC.
As the saying goes “Birds of the same feather flock together”.
This resignation should not deter Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed from continuing with his good works, as the people of Bauchi State are the judges, and they will judge when the time comes.
