NUKESS honors Bagudu for sustained support to education sector

The National Union of Kebbi State Students, NUKESS has presented an award to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his giant strides in the education sector.

The award was presented to the governor by the President of the union, Comrade Muhammad Majo when he led officials and students to congratulate the governor on the 62nd independence anniversary of Nigeria at Government House, Birnin Kebbi this Saturday.

The governor who appreciated the the award , has however challenged students of tertiary educational institutions to contribute to the development of their alma maters.

Bagudu sad that such efforts can be done by donating books and other facilities to the former schools of the students.

According to him, funding education must be a collective responsibility although the government was doing it’s best in spite of limited resources at it’s disposal.

The Chairman of the APC Chairman Forum further charged them to take the lead in interrogating how the world, Nigeria and Kebbi state will look in the next 62 years.

Describing the group of students as formidable, Bagudu said that more cam be done to bolster the education sector at all levels, if all hands were put on the deck.

The governor said that with collectivity and cooperation, all the challenges in the state and the county will be surmounted.

He acknowledged the efforts of the academics who had volunteered to be Chairmen of LGEAs, adding hat such invaluable sacrifices were now yielding fruits.

Bagudu further described the students as sources of pride and prosperity for the state and Nigeria in general.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu appealed to University lecturers to summon courage and collaborate with the Federal Government for an immediate resumption to classes.

Earlier, the President of the union, Comrade Muhammad Majo had said that the visit was to felicitate with the governor and the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of the Independence Anniversary.

Majo described the governor as a visionary leader whose transformation agenda for Kebbi State was unparalleled in its history.

The president also said that with the unblemished leadership of Bagudu, the state will reach the desired destination of growth and development.

He acknowledged the tremendous achievements recorded by the state government at all levels of education.

He said that the governor’s sustained local and foreign sponsorship of students was legendary.

Similarly, the National Staff Adviser, Mallam Bashar Aliyu Buhari lauded the governor for his immense care to students, informed the gathering that while in Ukraine, the Governor took it upon himself to call individual students to ask them about their general wellbeing.

He commended the Governor for excelling among his peers on educational development.
