Nigerian Journalists urged to be more investigative in their reportage

Journalists in Bauchi state have been urged to focus on local investigative Reporting for improved government accountability and transparency.

A Data and Science journalist with Civic Media Lab, Chikezie Omeje made the call at a One- Day workshop organized by Civic Media Lab and Wikki Times Online news paper held at the NUJ state Secretariat .

He said working journalists should embark fully on local investigative reporting to expose ugly trend perpetrated by some public stakeholders.

Chikezie Omele noted that the masses would appreciate if journalists play their roles accordingly.

The Investigative journalist also called on the media industries to take the welfare of their staff as the first priority, saying that would
enable them perform diligently and take them away from collecting bribe.

In his remark at the workshop, the founder of Wikki Times Online news paper, Haruna Muhammed enjoined journalists to always consider themselves as watchdog of the society and practice their work with all fairness and deep investigative to their reports for the interest of the general public.

The State NUJ Chairman Comrade Umar Saidu , represented by Umar Muhammad Shira commended the organizers for coming up with initiative describing it as timely.
