NASARU COLLAPSING BRIDGE: Bauchi Speaker visits scene, writes Federal Ministry Of Works

Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman has written to the Federal Ministry of Works requesting for quick intervention on a bridge that is collapsing along the Bauchi-Jigawa-Kano Highway in Nasaru of Ningi Local Government Area.

He told the Ministry that he had received various complaints from his constituents on the bridge that is at the verge of collapse any time soon.

The Speaker who visited the scene on Wednesday, said that after inspecting the bridge, what he saw was a disaster waiting to happen and any further heavy rain will completely cut-off the road.

“You are aware, Nasaru bridge is strategically located in one of the major arterial roads that connect about five States (Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba& Plateau) to the commercial city of Kano. It therefore attracts and carries a huge volume of traffic on daily basis. The collapse of this important bridge will cause a huge inconvenience and economic losses to many citizens that use this road on daily basis.” He said.

Speaker Abubakar Suleiman therefore requested the quick intervention of the Ministry of to consider the urgent repairs of the Nasaru bridge in an order to avert the impending calamity.

During the visit to the scene, the Speaker was in company of Honourable Members and Clerk of the House.
