MACBAN Blames Governments for Zero Budget in Nigeria

Governments at all levels have been urged to put in place mechanism that will carter for the well-being of nomads in the country.

The Chairman Bauchi State Chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Alhaji Sadik Ibrahim Ahmad made the call during a press brief in Bauchi.

Ibrahim Ahmad, also drew the attention of the Government to consider nomads in their yearly budget for the betterment of Fulbe community.

He lamented previous promises made to nomads across the country that are yet to be fulfilled, saying those programmes are only on paper.

He advised the Government to include Fulbe leaders in policies and programmes that concerned their members for them to benefit.

Comrade Sadik called on people and governments officials to stop addressing the Fulani negatively in order to tarnish the history and image of nomads in the country and world at large.

He described the word “FULBE” as a decency and shame that at sometimes made some security agents to intimidate them in all sorts of manner.

The Bauchi MACBAN Chairman, promised to change the style leadership of MACBAN across the nation adding that Bauchi have always been the center of excellence in terms of politics.

He blamed the poor leadership and poor representation of nomads from the National down to States and local Chapters of the Association, and called on the leaders of MACBAN to put the Members in their hearts for positive outputs.

Comrade Sadik Ibrahim Ahmad, said MACBAN been the largest Association in the country, needs to have a proactive Leadership at all levels that will voice for the voiceless Members.

He said over the years, Federal and States governments are budgeting zero percent 0% for the Fulani nationwide in the name of Agricultural budget.

The Bauchi State MACBAN leader, linked the conflict between the farmers and herdsmen as the result of injustice from Governments that failed to ensure the grazing Reserves, Cattle Routes and Cattle Dams are safeguarded for the purpose of nomadic usages in the country.

Comrade Sadik Ibrahim Ahmad, assured the nomads under his watch to reap dividend of Democracy saying he comes out with new policies that other leaders of MACBAN from various states will emulate Bauchi Chapter of the Association, in terms of Nomadic education, rights of nomads, sources of revenue for the Association, Welfare of the Members new style of cattle grazing among others.

Commenting on the new Leadership of MACBAN in Bauchi under the watch of Sadik Ibrahim Ahmad, the Bauchi South Zonal Chairman of the union, Alhaji Adamu A. Musa Sarkin Ginzum, said MACBAN in the state has took the new dimension that touches the lives of the less privileged in all aspects of humanity.

He called on the other leaders to copy from the Bauchi State Chairman of the MACBAN in order to save Fulbe Communities from all calamities across the nation.
