Bauchi State Government says it will remain Resolute towards the implementation of the Supreme Court’s judgment granting autonomy to Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the Country.

This development comes after a stakeholders’ consultative meeting, which was presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, alongside the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman.

The meeting, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government, marked a crucial milestone in the state’s journey towards LGA autonomy.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Aminu Hammayo, briefed journalists on the outcomes of the meeting, highlighting the state government’s readiness to implement the Supreme Court’s judgment.

According to Hammayo, the state government will soon present two Executive Bills to the State House of Assembly, outlining the framework for implementing LGA autonomy.

These bills, namely the Local Government Administration Bill 2025 and the Law for State to implement local government autonomy, were drafted by the Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice.

Our correspondent Mubarak Aliyu kobi reports that The stakeholders’ meeting provided a platform for robust discussions and debates on the bills, with inputs from Chairpersons of the LGAs and other relevant stakeholders.
