Kebbi releases 112,500 bags of Fertilizer for wet season farming

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has approved the release of One Hundred and Twelve Thousand, Five Hundred bags of Fertilizer for sale to farmers across the 225 wards in all the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

This was disclosed by State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Maigari Abdullahi Dakingari, while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi this Monday .

He said that the state Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has directed the immediate commencement of Fertilizer sales to farmers in order to facilitate smooth wet season farming in the state.

According to the Commissioner, each of the 225 ward would received 500 bags of assorted fertilizers at a cost of N6,000 per bag.

” I wish to inform you that His Excellency, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Kebbi State Governor has approved the immediate sales of fertilizer to farmers for 2021 wet season farming in 225 wards across the state. The fertiliser is to be sold at subsidised rate of N6,000 per bag on cash and carry basis.

“The fertiliser is for farming activities in the state and it is not to be sold or diverted outside of Kebbi state”, he warned.

He explained that, Governor had also approved the composition of the committee which will monitor the distribution and the sales of the product to ensure that the commodity reach the targetted benificiaries, the farmers in the State .

He said: “His Excellency, Governor Bagudu has also approved the composition of the following members of the Committee in each of the 21 local governments and their 225 wards to achieve a successful and hitch-free sales of the product to those that are genuinely in need of it to foster sustainable agricultural development in the state,”.

” Commissioners, members of the State House of assembly, local government chairmen and their vice are mandated to oversee the distribution of the commodity in each of the ward.

He said others to monitor the distribution of the commodity included, the Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries and representatives of emirate councils.

“Others are, the Ulama, representatives of the Farmers associations and officials of the security agencies, among others,” Dakingari said.

The Commissioner warned that Government would not condone any act of diversion and that any one caught diverting the product would be dealt within the ambit of the law.

He reiterated that, the State Government has stockpiled fertilizer in all depots and service centers in all the 21 local government areas in the state.
