Kebbi Govt to award contract for construction of township roads, Jumuat Mosque in Fakai town

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu says the State Government will award contract for the construction of township roads in Fakai town, in a fortnight.

The Chairman of the APC Governors’Forum stated this on Thursday,when he visited Fakai town and met the newly elected Chairman, Vice Chairman and Councillors of Fakai at the local Government Secretariat.

” Fakai is the only town we have not constructed township roads and let me assure you that this will be done in the next two weeks.

” This is to add to the structures of the town, as well as boost the socio – economic development of the people in the area,” the governor added.

Bagudu stated that the visit was partly to felicitate with the elected local Government Council and congratulate them just as he did to Council members of Birnin Kebbi Local Government, as well as to renew the confidence of the people in the area.

He added,” so I am here to greet the people and congratulate the newly elected local governments chairmen, their deputies and councillors in this area.

” I also want to remind them to abide by their oaths of office that are sacrosanct.

” I am also again appealing to the people to assist them in abiding with these oaths of office.

” They are now leaders of all, those who elected them and otherwise. They should be fair to all.”

Bagudu further urged the local government leaders to fully understand their budgeting processes and run an open government.

He also called on them to assess their comparative advantages and always work in line with the yearnings and aspirations of the people and hold regular meetings.

‘ Fakai is blessed with gold deposits and natural resources, I want you all particularly the councillors to take advantage of the resources for the benefit of people,’ ‘ he advised.

Bagudu also informed the gathering that he has directed the construction of the Jumuat Mosque in Fakai town .

Earlier, the Chairman of Fakai Local Government Area, Umaru Magaji Marafa and the State House of Assembly member representing the area, Hon. Lawal Haruna Gele all expressed their delight with the visit of the Governor.

Marafa particularly thanked the Governor for felicitating with them over their recent election .

At the Palace of Chiefdom of Fakai, Alhaji Hudu DanMalan , the traditional ruler, while expressing his delight with the visit, commended the Governor for not only showing concern to the plight of people in the area affected by banditry, but by taking proactive measures towards entrenching peace in the area .

‘ We in this area bear witness to your sacrifice, continuous efforts to entrench peace.

” You are doing your best to deal with insecurity in our area, may God bless you,” he said.

The Fakai Chiefdom also thanked Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for awarding contract for reconstruction of Fakai Jumuat Mosque.

In his remarks, governor Bagudu appreciated the unwaivering loyalty and cooperation of Fakai Chiefdom.

Bagudu lamented the lingering security challenge in the area promising not to relent in ensuring that peace returned to the area.

He appealed for more patience and cooperation from all, in order to support his administration in overcoming the insecurity bedevilling the area.

Bagudu reiterated the commitment of his administration to taking proactive measures to curtail insecurity in the area.

The Governor was accompanied by the Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena, Special Adviser on Security , Garba Rabiu Kamba, Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Hon. Hassan Muhammad Shalla, among others.

Hundreds of people, as well as prominent politicians such as the State APC Chairman, Abubakar Kana Zuru converged to welcome the governor and his entourage.
