Kebbi State Government has commenced the distribution of food items to the people as palliatives to cushion the hardship of ongoing cash crunch and fuel scarcity.

The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Babale Umar Yauri, flagged off the distribution exercise on behalf of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu at the government’s store, Bulasa near Birnin Kebbi, this Thursday.

Babale Umar explained that the palliative materials consisted of the consignment from the federal government and those procured by Kebbi state government.

The SSG said Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in furtherance of his benevolence, compassion and love for the people of the state gave the directive for the release of the grains to chairmen of local government councils for distribution to their peculiar localities to serve as relief to all communities.

The SSG added that separate relief materials would also be provided to victims of flooding in fourteen local government areas.

Already, he said, those affected in seven local government areas before now, have received such items to mitigate losses incurred from the flooding.
