Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu has Flagged off the disbursement of livelihood support grant to Fifteen Thousand beneficiaries across the State.
Under the current programme, each beneficiary will recieve two hundred thousand naira totaling Three billion naira .
At the ceremony in Birnin kebbi this Monday, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris affirmed that his administration would provide necessary support and priority to achieve high impact of the objective of the scheme.
He advised the beneficiaries of the disbursement to invest the money in gainful ventures to generate income for self reliance .
The governor cautioned them that independent verification agents from tbe World Bank and Staff of the Ministry of Budget would monitor the utilisation of the money to ensure that the funds were not diverted to other uses.
Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu further warned officials entrusted with the disbursement that the state government would not condone diversion of the funds other than the purpose of the program.
Governor Nasir Idris gave an assurance that he would continue to source for resources within and outside Nigeria to bring home for the benefit of people of the State
The Kauran Gwandu used the occasion to announce that the Minister of Agriculture would be in Kebbi on Thursday to launch the distribution of solar powered water pumps to farmers.
He said the government has already procured Ten Thousand units of the water pumps at the cost of Seven Hundred Thousand Naira per unit.
Governor Nasir Idris gave glad tidings,that his administration would explore all avenues to subsidise cost of petrol to farmers using fuel powered water pumps aimed at consolidating the leading position of Kebbi State in rice production.
In a remark, the Commissioner for budget and economic planning who is also the, Chairman Kebbi Cares steering Committee, Dr. Abba Sani Kalgo said the program was designed to cushion the economic and social effect on the people as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic.
He explained that under the ongoing third round of the livelihood grant disbursement, governor Nasir Idris has instructed that the money accruing to each beneficiary should be raised to the highest peak of Two Hundred Thousand Naira limit set by banks which is unprecedented in the history of Kebbi State.
The Commissioner immensely expressed appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for his benevolence, compassion and support to the Kebbi Cares program.
Governor Nasir Idris witnessed the disbursement to first batch of beneficiaries by ATM card through POS during which he confirmed the actual amount in the account.
The Speaker Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Usman Muhammad Ankwe, Chief Judge of the State, Justice Umar Abubakar, Grand Khadi , Sadiq Muktar, Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, Head of Service, Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena, Commissioners and Special Advisers witnessed the ceremony.
