Kebbi State Government is to collaborate with the Qatar Foundation to construct One Hundred mosques and boreholes.
The mosques and boreholes will be constructed throughout the twenty one local government areas of the state .
The Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Religious Affairs, Engr. Imam Imrana Usman announced this on Friday at the opening of a Jumu’ah Mosque constructed by Alhaji Buhari Jega in Jega Local Government Area.
Engr Imam Imrana Usman told the congregation of worshippers that the Kebbi State Government under the abled leadership of Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, attached great importance to religious matters because of its sanctity to the lives of Muslims.
He says, ‘ Prayer is paramount pillar in Islam, it is gratifying to see that our Ummah places high premium on Salat as basic obligation to our daily lives , hence the need for construction of mosques.
‘ I want to inform you that arrangements have reached advanced stage between the Kebbi State Government and Qatar Foundation to construct more than 100 mosques and boreholes for the betterment of the Muslim Ummah and humanity in general.
‘ We have since distributed allocation letters for the construction of the mosques to the various Islamic groups in the state. The Dariqa Movement has been allocated 30 mosques and boreholes’
The Adviser thanked all those who contributed to the construction of the new mosque in Jega , pledging on behalf of the state government, to provide a borehole and additional materials as required by the faithfuls.
He commended Alhaji Abdullahi Buhari Jega for using his wealth to construct the mosque which he described as ‘ a big worshipping edifice for Muslims ‘ and urged the wealth- to- do in the society to emulate him.
Usman appealed to adherents of different religions to live in peace, harmony and tranquillity with one another and prayed Allah to salvage Nigeria out of her present economic and social challenges.
Prominent Islamic Scholars from different parts of the country including the Dariqa Movement who observed the Jumu’ah prayer include Shiek Shehu Buba, the son of Shiek Shehu Tijjani Nyass and other Islamic clerics of Dariqa sect from Zamfara, Kano and Ghana.
