Kaduna State Government Trains Women On Contract Accessing

Kaduna State Government has organised an enlightenment workshop for women on steps to access contracts for self reliance.

Addressing the participants in Zaria, Director General of the State Public Procurement Authority, Engineer Sanusi Aminu Yero explained that the workshop was aimed at carrying women along in the award of contracts in the State.

He identified some requirements for women to access contracts to include ownership of a designated company, tax payment, registration with the CAC, expertise among others.

Engineer Sanusi Aminu Yero disclosed that a waiver might be considered on some steps, but a prospective contractor must possess at least a minimum of CAC registration and a business centre.

The Director General expressed delight over the large turnout of prospective women contractors and their level of response during the engagement.

Also speaking, Director planning reforms at the Authority, Engineer Suleiman Abba said the workshop was organised to strengthen the active participation of women on the public procurement processes.

He disclosed that research has shown that women were left behind in the public procurement processes hence the need for the workshop.

Some of the participants, Associate Professor Maryam Abdu, Mrs Safiya Abdul and Salaha Balarabe Kubau described the workshop as educative and enlightening, and commended the organisers for a job weldone.

Highlights of the course contents included bidding, how to create a profile and how to apply for a contract.
