INSECURITY: NSCDC trains special female squad to fight kidnapping, rape and human trafficking

The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps has trained Special Female Squad, to help in tackling kidnapping of students, rape, and other crimes in the state.

The State Commandant of the Corp Nurudeen Abdullahi stated this at a graduation ceremony of the newly trained 35 Special Female Squad in Bauchi.

He said, the wisdom behind the training is to tackle the kidnapping of students abduction of women and children, rape and human trafficking which have become rampant in the society.

Abdullahi commended the Bauchi state governor for his support to the security agency and for creating the atmosphere in which security heads bring out their talents and experiences in tackling security challenges in the state.

The NSCDC boss who congratulated the graduands at the ceremony said they have been chosen and trained for a special task to ensure a crime-free state, and will be deployed to strategic areas of concern including the office of the First Lady.

In her speech at the occasion, the Special Guest of Honour, the Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, commended the NSCDC for the initiative which has given women an opportunity to contribute to national security.

The First Lady, who was represented by the Chairperson, Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children, represented by Yelwa Abubakar-Tafawa Balewa, noted that the idea shows that the Corps is gender-sensitive and the 30 per cent affirmative derivational principle of the women is accomplished.

The Special Female Squad personnel were trained to be deployed to various schools in Bauchi state and other strategic places in order to curtail the excesses of the ugly situation.

The First Lady charged the graduands to prove their mantle that they can do better in carrying out their assignment without compromise.
