A security expert Malam Yahaya Rayyan Zariya, has explained the reason the initiator of the National Taskforce on the Prohibition of Illegal Importation/Smuggling of Arms, Ammunition and Light Weapons (NATFORCE) is seeking legislative approval for the organisation from the National Assembly.

The initiator of the security outfit, Dr Baba Mohammed has approached the National Assembly through a Bill, seeking legislative approval for the organisation to operate legally in the country.

The Bill has scaled the first and second reading awaiting the third and final reading.

Yahaya Rayyan enthused that, since all the Principal Officers of the two Houses of the National Assembly are also unanimously in support of the decision to approach them, positive result is expected because Nigerians can’t wait to see the outfit operate in the country for the good of the people of Nigeria.”

Yahaya made this submission in an interview where he explained that, “for the agency to work and work well, it needs the legal rule and regulation as legal teeth to bark and bite properly,” disclosing that, “the current Director-General of NATFORCE, Dr. Baba Mohammed has commenced efforts towards ensuring that it gets these legal teeth.”

He therefore commended the Founder, Baba Mohammed for taking the right steps toward legislative endorsement of NATFORCE to operate in Nigeria legally as a recognised as a security outfit, saying, “it is only through that process that the organization would be able to achieve its two major objectives of assisting the government to fight crime and provide jobs for the teeming youth of this country.”

The expecte Yahaya Rayyan was of the belief that President Muhammadu Buhari would love the outfit because of the benefits accruable to the citizenry, saying, “any arrangement that could secure the country from the claws of insecurity and keep the youth out of the street though gainful engagement would be welcome by the him.”
