Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has today launched the Kaura Economic Empowerment (KEEP) Programme in Warji and Ningi Local Government Areas of the state.
Speaking, Mohammed said with today’s launching of the programme, 80% of the State has been covered by the economic intervention with a view to alleviating poverty and indolence among youth and women for a better and independent society.
According to Bala Mohammed, 1,000 tricycles (Keke NAPEP) have been distributed in addition to commercial buses to members of the public and assured that his administration is committed to empower citizens, adding that already a Microfinance Institution Building Programme (MIFIN) has been put in place to enhance access of the poor to financial services so as to boost the productivity of micro and small scale enterprises.
According to Mohammed, his administration has with partnership the Aliko Dangote Foundation empowered 1,000 women with N10,000:00 apiece in all the 20 Local Governments in the State.
The empowerment items distributed by the Governor in Warji and Ningi are not limited to starter packs and N50,000 cash for 500 persons per Local Government, three motor cycles in each of the wards of the 20 Local Governments to Ward PDP Chairmen, Ward Coordinators,Ward Youth leaders, N100,000.00 cash to women leaders and youth leaders.
In their separate remarks, the State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed and the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly (BAHA), Rt Honourable Abubakar Y. Sulaiman commended Governor Bala for coming up with the empowerment programme and called on the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by voting for him in 2023 elections.
