Gov. Idris of Kebbi State visits burnt TCN facility in Birnin Kebbi

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu on Saturday visited the burnt TCN facility at Tal’udu, Birnin Kebbi, which was gutted by fire on Thursday night.

Gov. Idris sympathised with TCN and the entire people of Kebbi State over the unfortunate fire incident which had thrown the State and its neighbours States into darkness .

Governor Idris directed the Ministry of Water Resources as well as Advisers on Power and that of Environment to make contingency arrangement on supply of diesel to power Water Board engines for supply of water to Kebbi residents.

“We don’t want a situation where this problem will lead to suffering of our people. We want people to enjoy supply of potable water to avoid outbreak of diseases,” he noted.

Idris also advocated for the establishment of a committee of enquiry to ascertain the main cause of the fire incident, adding that investigation became necessary with a view to avoiding recurrence of such ugly development.

The governor pledged to join hands with the Federal Government, TCN and Kaduna Electricity in order to facilitate the quick restoration of electricity to emeliorate the suffering of the people.

The governor was accompanied by the Hon. Minister of State for Education, Rt. Hon Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu (Dan Madamin Yauri), State Acountant General, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Nahaliku, Special Adviser to the Governor on power, Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant , Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu and other top government functionaries went round the vicinity to have an on-the-spot assessment of the damaged power transmission facility .

It will be recalled that fire gutted the TCN substation in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday night which resulted into collosal damage of the facility worth millions of naira.
