Gov Idris inaugurates 10th Kebbi Assembly as new speaker emerges

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu has inaugurated the 10th Assembly of Kebbi State House of Assembly this Thursday.

Reading the proclamation of Governor Idris at the chamber of the House, the Clerk of the house , Suleman Shamaki who took charge of the proceedings, told the members of the House that he was in receipt of the proclamation of the governor to inaugurate the House.

He announced that the constitution of federal republic of Nigeria vested power on the governor to offer proclamation on the inauguration of the State House of Assembly.

According to him, the contents of the proclamation are ‘ There is a provision in section 105 sub section 3 of the constitution of federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended .

‘ That the person elected as the governor shall have the power to issue proclamation to the State House of Assembly immediately after he is sworn in .

” Now therefore, I comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu executive Governor of Kebbi State in the excercise of the power vested upon me by section 105 sub section 3 of the constitution,hereby proclaim that the first session of the 10th Assembly shall hold at the assembly chamber , Birnin Kebbi on 8th Day of June, 2023 by 11:00 am’, he announced.

The Clerk raised the issue of financial autonomy of the House, saying that it has been resolved, only left for the legislature and the executive to liaise for implementation.

Meanwhile,with the inauguration of the 10th Assembly by Governor Idris, members of the State House of Assembly have unanimously elected Hon . Muhammad Usman, Ankwai Zuru from Zuru constituency as the new Speaker of the House.

The new speaker was elected after being nominated by Hon. Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri and seconded by Hon Muhammad KK Augie with no objection raised by members of the House.

The members of the 10th Assembly of Kebbi State also elected Muhammad Samaila from Bagudo constituency as the Deputy Speaker.

After the inauguration ceremony, members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly paid courtesy visit to Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
