Gov Idris dissolves 21 LGAs Chairmen, bids them farewell

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu bade farewell to the 21 local Government Chairmen of the State whose tenure ended this Monday 5th of February, 2024.

The Governor received the outgoing 21 local Government Chairmen at the Council Chamber of Government House, Birnin Kebbi this Monday.

Governor Idris expressed his appreciation for the people and Government of Kebbi State for their invaluable contributions to their various localities and the entire State.

The governor expressed delight with the performance of the outgoing Chairmen and the progress recorded at their local government areas.

Gov. Idris announced the dissolution of the 21 Local Government Councils and ordered the outgoing Chairmen to hand over the mantle of leadership to the Directors of Personnel Management, DPMs, of their councils with immediate effect.

He said the order was sequel to the expiration of their tenure as elected local government chairmen this Monday.

Governor Nasir Idris also directed all Secretaries of the 21 Local Government Councils to vacate office immediately.

At a farewell meeting with the outgoing Chairmen in Birnin Kebbi this Monday, Governor Nasir Idris, made it clear that in accordance with the law governing local government tenure of elected officials, the period of being in office of the outgoing Chairmen expired this Monday.

“I thank you immensely for your contribution to the success of my administration, you worked assiduously towards the development of your areas.
My next line of action will be a brighter one for you.

” I give glory to GOD for making us triumph in the just concluded bye election for Ngaski/Yauri/Shanga Federal constituency and the Arewa/Dandi Federal Constituency.

I extend my appreciation to the people of the affected Local government areas”, he said.

Speaking with newsmen afterwards, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, explained that Secretaries of the Local Government Councils were also asked to go because most of them were politicians after retirement from civil service and were not employees of government.

The Commissioner made it clear that the government would do the needful in ensuring that all the local government councils were operating in strict compliance with the law.
