The oppositions should bury their heads in shame over their botched agitations on payment of salaries in Bauchi state.

It is a known fact that this problem is the result of their inept and clueless administration.

Data revealed that salaries in the state rose from 4 billion naira to almost 7 billion naira, attributing the increase within the period of transition.

The previous administration out of laxity and lack of political will, could not take the bull by the horn to tackle the issue simply because its cronies were behind the heinous act.

Now that His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed is working hard to clean their mess and sanitize the payroll and nominal roll, they quickly spread out their wing to unleash all sorts of venoms in the name of criticism.

One will not be surprised because they have nothing on sight to criticize due to the quality leadership style of Governor Bala Mohammed.

The public parley convened recently by the governor to find the root cause of the problem associated with the state and local government payroll is one of the bests done by any governor in Nigeria.

Everyone in Bauchi, who attended or listened to the revelations at the parley will attest to the fact that Bauchi state was on the verge of being mortgaged by some unpatriotic elements.

The shocking revelations made by the consulting firm contacted by the state government to manage the payroll was scary and unbelievable.

Now, where are the oppositions? have they suddenly gone cold? ashamed of themselves? Oh! Yes, they should be.

We also need their apology for misleading citizens of Bauchi through their baseless lies and deceit on the salary issue.

As we await their apology, let’s have some takeaway from the governor’s comments during the parley.

The Governor declared that he would leave no stone unturned to get to the root of the matter.

According to him, the state government will set up a committee to investigate the state Commissioner for Finance, the Accountant-General, permanent secretaries and directors on the issue.

The governor declared that the state has money to pay its workers and lamented that some saboteurs in the system were thwarting the government’s efforts in ensuring prompt payment of workers’ salary.

“We must get to the root of this issue. A committee will be set up to investigate it.

“I can assure you that anyone found guilty after the investigation will be sacked and made to face the full wrath of the law to serve as deterrent to others,”

The governor lamented that there has been an entrenched corruption in the system over the years in the state, which he said predates his administration.

With these efforts being put in place, the people of Bauchi must appreciate the courage of His Excellency to nip it in the bud for a prosperous State.

Shame on the opposition!

By Usman Abdullahi Koli, ANIPR Muhammadu Buhari, former President of Nigeria, is no more. For a moment, I felt very shocked and touched. Not because I expected him to live forever, but because I had never truly imagined a Nigeria without him somewhere in the background watching, guiding, deciding, or simply being present. I asked […]

By Usman Abdullahi Koli Greatness is never loud. It does not announce itself with drums or decorate its path with banners. It builds, it gives, it heals, and it walks away quietly, leaving only the sound of impact behind. This is the spirit carried by the Wunti Alkhair Foundation, a vision founded and driven by […]
