Gov Bagudu appreciates university professors for improving quality of basic education in Kebbi

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has again expressed appreciation to University Professors for accepting to serve in the education management of Kebbi state which highly improved the quality of basic education as well as the performance of pupils and students.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu made the commendation this Monday at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi when professors who are the chairmen of Local Government Education Authorities LGEAs and the State consultant of the Better Education Service Delivery for All, BESDA, Professor Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudo led by the Chairman of the State Primary Education Board, SUBEB, Professor Suleiman Khalid Jega paid him Sallah homage to mark Eidel Fitr.

The governor was grateful to them that their involvement and assistance to education matters in the state has helped to achieve remarkable results.

Furthermore, their administrative skills as distinguished Professors of various callings have made it easier to address some educational matters without time wasting.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu added that he has interacted with teachers who attributed the immense progress recorded in the education sector to the participation of the professors in education management.

The governor thanked them for the Sallah homage and presentation of souvenir to him.

In a remark, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Rt. Hon. Hassan Muhammad Shalla commended the University Dons for accepting to assist the government in surmounting challenges in the education sector.

The commissioner also commended Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for placing premium on the education sector and attaching importance to all matters of knowledge.

Rt. Hon. Shalla indicated that the governor has paid examination fees of thirty-five thousand pupils as well as fully paid all fees for WAEC, NECO, and other examination bodies while contractors engaged in school feeding have been paid.

In a remark the Executive Chairman, SUBEB, Professor Suleiman Khalid Jega said the professors were at the Government House, to rejoice with him on the occasion of Eid-el Fitr, and on the resounding election victory of the APC at federal and state levels.

He thanked the governor for his ingenious leadership, recruitment strategy for affording an opportunity to the professors to serve their communities and the state in the education sector.

Professor Suleiman Jega further thanked him for midwifing the election of a professional teacher, Kauran Gwandu, as his successor.

The SUBEB Chairman also acknowledged that the governor has maintained sustainability of development in the education sector, thanking him for being the most academic friendly governor in the history of Kebbi state.

In similar accolades, the consultant for BESDA, Professor Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudo informed the governor that the performance of Kebbi state in the BESDA programme excited the World Bank which awarded the first position to the state.

Professor Bagudo indicated that Kebbi state was able to return more than eight hundred thousand out-of-school pupils back to the classroom out of the estimated one point one nine million pupils.

The BESDA consultant was happy that the scheme has provided an opportunity to children of down-trodden to acquire quality education.
