A friend from another state in the country who is envious of the Kano State’s notable achievements in the last seven and a half years asked me of the secret behind Governor Ganduje’s monumental infrastructural projects.

This friend was making reference to the recent mega projects the patriotic governor commissioned recently.

Baba Gabduje commissioned six mega projects in one day. This is unprecedented in the history of Nigeria.

The projects include the Professor Hafsat Umar Ganduje Cancer Treatment Centre; multibillion Aliko Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre; Muhammadu Buhari Three-layer Interchange, Hotoro, NNPC Roundabout; ; Dala Inland Dry Port, Kano Data Centre.

What more could someone say of a governor who has an unwavering devotion to and a vigorous support for his state. Governor Ganduje’s love for Kano and its people cannot be quantified.

Baba Ganduje came with a mission and a vision and a very progressive mind-set. The face of Kano is already changing.

At this juncture it will be our own good if we understand the chemistry of Governor Ganduje’s infrastructure projects. This can best be explained in a triangular structure comprising education, healthcare and commerce.

Take the example of Muhammadu Buhari Three-layer Interchange, Hotoro, NNPC Roundabout, the Dandi three-layered interchange and Dala Inland Dry Port, Kano Data Centre, among other similar projects.

One, Kano has a long-standing history of commerce. People troop into the state for business purposes from not only within Nigeria, but also countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The objective is to create a smooth traffic flow and to achieve ease of doing business to which an effective road network is an integral part.

A robust healthcare system in Kano State will not only end medical tourism abroad, but also attract patients from within and outside Nigeria. Professor Hafsat Umar Ganduje Cancer Treatment Centre, Muhammadu Buhari Specialists Hospital, Khalifa Sheikh Isyaku Rabiu Paediatric Hospital, Zoo Road is part of the Ganduje administration’s vision of achieving a healthy population which will definitely lead to economic growth.

When you add the construction of schools and thousands of classes across the 44 local government areas of the state to the projects above, you have a complete structure that makes up key dimensions in human development.

Lest we forget, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje came into power in 2015 on a strong footing, even though when he arrived Kano was neck-deep in debt.

Baba Ganduje did his summation well and in no time Kano was on its feet again. He started with mega projects from the beginning of his first tenure. He completed all the projects left by his predecessor and set to work.

The end product of Governor Ganduje tireless spade work to place the state on the right track to development is what we see in Kano from beautification, compelling road networks to the state-of-the-art hospitals and a strong education system.

From now on the name Ganduje will evoke selfless service, beautification and progressiveness in references to the mega infrastructural projects Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has delivered to transform Kano State into a mega city comparable anywhere in the world.
