FOOD EMBARGO: Speakers conference commends Kogi Governor for intervening in ban of food supply to the South

The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria has commended Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State for intervening in the crisis that led to an industrial action by the Amalgamated Union of Food and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AFUCDN) which imposed ban on food supply to the southern part of the Country.

A statement signed by the spoke person to the Chairman of the Conference Abdul Ahmed Burra revealed.

According to him, the Chairman of the Conference Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman made the commendation when he led the Speakers to a courtesy call to the Governor at his residence today, in Abuja.

The Chairman who described the crisis that engulfed in the Southwest which led to the strike as unfortunate, said the quick intervention by the Governor which resolved the impasse will check the escalation of the crisis and bring life to normalcy between the two regions of the Country which hitherto live peacefully.

According to him, the Governor has shown exemplary leadership and patriotism by intervening on the matter which portends serious danger to the unity of the Country.

Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman who told the Governor that State Lawmakers are doing everything possible to ensure the permanent end of the disputes for peace and unity of the country, described peace as panacea to development and prosperity.

In his response, Governor Yahaya Bello thanks the Speakers for the visit and recognising the role he played in resolving the crisis.

He pledges to continue playing role in national unity and cohesion for peace and development of the Country.
