FG is constructing over 13,000 Km roads across the nation – Fashola.

The Federal Government under the ministry of works and Housing is executing over 895 contracts including roads and bridges across the nation.

The Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Raji Fashola stated this during the 27th meeting of the national Council on works with the Theme “infrastructure delivery, the maintenance economy and national prosperity ” held at the Command guest house Bauchi.

Babatunde Fashola said the Federal Government is executing over 13,000 km roads across the 36 states of the nation, while promising to provide more infrastructural project to improve the life of the citizens.

He added that the FG was commitment to reduce poverty among 10 million Nigerians, urging the state government to put the vision of employing more people in order to reduce poverty among the Citizens.

The Minister said the Federal Ministry of works and Housing has presented a Memo to the Federal Executive Council for the establishment of maintenance unit in the relevant ministries in the country, urging the participants to focus on infrastructure maintenance in other to make the life of the citizens better.

In his remark, the Bauchi state Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir Appreciated the Federal Ministry of works and Housing for hosting the meeting in Bauchi state.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy State Senator Baba Tela said the state government was commitment to provide infrastructure to the people of the state, which is the mission and vision of the government.

He added that the Bauchi state government is collaboration with World bank and African development Bank to construct more road in rural Communities under the RAAMP project as well as the urban and renewal project across the state.

In his welcome address, the state commissioner of works and transport Abdulkadir Ibrahim thank the Federal Ministry of works and Housing for the Federal road projects under construction across the state and the emergency response in restoring washout section of federal roads cause by these years flood all over the nation.

Participants where drawn from the Federal Ministry of works and Housing, state commissioners of works from 36 states of the Federation as well as the their permanent secretaries.
