The Taraba state Governor, Darius Ishaku has inaugurated a 10 man judicial panel of inquiry and restitution for victims of police brutality and other security agencies.
The inauguration was made at the state government house, jalingo the state capital due to the prevailing trends of events surrounding the genuine demands of the #ENDSARS protest by youth in the country.
He disclosed that the decision was also incompliance with the national economic council (NEC)’s directive on all states of the federation to constitute panel to probe police brutality and killings in the country.
Ishaku noted that the panel is to follow term of preference as mandated and appealed to the youths to shealth sword as their demands have been received loud and is being acted upon by the government.
The panel has the following as members,
(1) CSP Shawulu Kaboson
(2)Dr. Joseph Gimba
(3) Karkaji Dan Adi
(4) Mr. Samuel Tari
(5) Yakubu Garpha Usman
(6) Representative of students union
(7) Representative of CAN
(8) Representative of Muslim council
(9)Barr. Elihu Pheedami Eskenah, is to serve as help desk officer for complaints and petitions.
Responding on behalf of members, the chairman Justice Christopher Awubra promised the panel’s readiness to deliver on their mandate.
Correspondent reports that the panel is expected to submit it’s report within two months.
