The Chairman Kaduna State Council of Chiefs and Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli has said that te support given by the media in covering the emirate has attracted support against banditry, insecurity and other socio-economic challenges.
He made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zaria Unit on Thursday.
The royal father commended journalists for the support rendered to the emirate through their various media organizations towards addressing insecurity and other challenges in the area.
“We are highly elated by your reports on the Zazzau Emirate Council’s activities and other issues in Zaria and its environs. Your reports have immensely helped in drawing the attention of concerned authorities to the issues,’’ the emir said.
According to him, the media reports have enlightened the people on the activities in the emirate council which made many people to be aware of the arbitration and other aspects of Islamic Laws, such as inheritance.
The emir pledged to upgrade the Media and Publicity Unit of the emirate to a befitting media centre with state-of-the-art facilities to strengthen relationship between the emirate and the media.
He therefore, tasked reporters to avoid sensational reports and abide by the code of ethics of journalism in their reportage.
Earlier, the team leader, Malam Sagir Muhammad Auwal said the visit was to introduce the new executive members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zaria Unit to the emir and to seek royal blessings.
