DG (NESREA) visits Bauchi, assures strong partnership

The Director General, National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, (NESREA) Professor Aliyu Jauro has paid a visit to Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed in an effort to establish a partnership with the state.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on New Media Lawal Mu’azu revealed.

During an interactive session with the Director General and other principal officers of the Agency, Governor Bala welcomed them to Bauchi and promised sound partnership with them.

He told the visitors that a policy on zero tolerance to environmental sanitation has been produced to find lasting solutions to the challenges identified.

“Science and technology would be used to tackle the number of environmental problems facing different parts of the state” he said.

Governor Bala said an environmental science laboratory in the state would soon be established at the cost of about 40 million naira.

The Director General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, (NESREA) Professor Aliyu Jauro said they are in Bauchi for to seek for a partnership between the two bodies in line with the mandate of the Agency.

He said the presence of NASREA in Bauchi state will help to achieve effective implementation of the Agency’s mandate such as bringing environmental consciousness to the grassroots, saying the state is blessed with abundant mineral resources.

He said NESREA has responsibility for the protection and development of the environment, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development of Nigeria’s natural resources in general and environmental technology including coordination, and liaison with, relevant stakeholders within and outside Nigeria on matters of concerns.
