The Kano State Government on Tuesday night received 209,520 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
Receiving the vaccines at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on Tuesday night , the state Commissioner for health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said the first phase will focus on frontline health workers.
Tsanyawa, who represented Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said the Governor has accepted the vaccine and will soon receive his vaccination.
According to him, they would also focus on people with underlying health issues and the fourth phase will focus on other target populations.”
The commissioner pointed out that the state action committee on COVID-19 would meet to determine the modalities and when the vaccination would begin.
According to him, Governor Ganduje has already started meetings with all stakeholders across the state to ensure Kano residents are well sensitized on the need to accept the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Commissioner, however, stated that Governor Ganduje, his Deputy and all members of his cabinet are ever ready to take the vaccine.
He also hinted that the vaccine would be made available to all frontline health workers, security agencies and even journalists who are working round the clock to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
