One of the fallout two factions of the APC in Bauchi arising from the weekend congress has claimed that Sunusi Aliyu Kunde is the genuine chairman of the party in the state.

A spokesman of the faction, Honourable Adamu S. Noma at a press conference at NUJ Bauchi yesterday, said that they hold 80% majority of the party membership, hence their sincerity to lead the APC in Bauchi state.

The APC Bauchi state congress was said to have been held in two different places with two of the reported factions in Bauchi, while the other said to have been installed by Education Minister Adamu Adamu held simultaneously on weekend.

Noma claimed that the APC in Bauchi has been tempered by the ruling party (PDP) in the state, and therefore could not wondered its breakups into three manifolds to satisfy the whims and caprices of the PDP government in Bauchi.

The second state Congress of the APC purportedly held in the state under the tutelage of the Minister of Education has Alhaji Babayo Misau emerging as the Bauchi state chairman of the party.

Our correspondent learnt that Babayo Misau emerged the state chairman of APC alongside 35 members of the executives following the consensus process that was reached under the auspices of the minister.

Mr Jibrin Samuel, the Chairman state Congress Committee said the elected officials were elected through consensus by delegates and stakeholders of the party in the state.

Sam explained that his committee was mandated by the National Secretariat of the party to conduct free and fair congress in the state, saying “We give opportunity to stakeholders of each local government area and their zones to elect the state executives without rancor”.

“We are therefore affirming the elected officials according to the party guidelines and policies of the party. The committee did not interfere in the decision of stakeholders during the election process”.

He said the party was committed to bringing leaders that can work assiduously to wrestle power from the People Democratic party government, stressing that “Bauchi state belongs to APC, come 2023 the state will go back to the party”.

Samuel, however, commended the stakeholders and party loyalists for displaying humbleness during the Congress.
